On October 18th, the Center for Great Expectations (CGE) will hold the Annual Gala "Empowering Futures, Transforming Communities 2019", which is CGE’s largest celebratory event of the year.
This year, the CGE will honor several members from the Rutgers University community, whose commitment to the advancement of substance use and mental health disorder research directly impacting the women at CGE and countless others. Dr. Denise Hien, Director for the Center of Alcohol Studies and Professor in the Rutgers Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP), will be honored at the Gala. As a leader in the field of post-traumatic stress and addictions, her body of work has contributed to the evidence base on effective interventions for individuals with PTSD and substance use disorders. Collaborating with CGE as a partner on a number of projects, Dr. Hien hopes to obtain a PCORI grant with CGE to study, "A Comparative Effectiveness Trial for PTSD and Substance Use Disorders."
Grounded in a spirituality that treasures the dignity of all, the Center for Great Expectations provides transformational mental health and substance use disorder treatment to women, children, men and families impacted by trauma, abuse and neglect.
