Jan, 2020

Dr. Kristen Riley, Assistant Professor at GSAPP, was recently awarded a $15k grant from RWJ Barnabas for her Keeping Black Mothers Alive line of research.

This research proposal entitled, Pilot Study of HealthGrid® mHealth Intervention and Post-Discharge Patient Engagement in a Postpartum Clinic Population at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, aims to decrease maternal morbidity and mortality assisted through HealthGrid®, an interactive text-based messaging mHealth intervention, during the immediate postpartum period. This proposal also aims to determine the feasibility and acceptability of a larger trial and glean preliminary information about facilitators and barriers to increased patient engagement with text messages.

As the Co-Investigator of this project, Dr. Riley will act as the behavioral scientist on the team who will be looking at patient engagement and disparities among black women with this project.
