Instructional LevelIntermediate

 1 CE credit for Psychologists

1 CE credit for BCBA/BCABA

Price: $25

Description

Adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) experience challenges securing employment, which may lead to overall underemployment or unemployment. One of the first steps to obtaining employment is participating in a job interview. However, social communication deficits may interfere with an individual with ASD’s ability to participate in a job interview. During this webinar, we will discuss the use of Behavior Skills Training, specifically modeling, rehearsal, and feedback strategies, to improve the interview skills of college students with ASD. These skills must be developed before entering into the workforce, and in many cases that time period occurs when an adult is in their last few years of college. Many universities have support programs for adults with ASD, but may lack employment readiness training for this population. The purpose of this webinar is to discuss the limitations that college students with ASD may face and offer resources and strategies to supporting them during these important years. During the webinar we will demonstrate an effective method of teaching adults with ASD interview skills via remote instruction, and provide suggestions for individualized programming, and future replication of this training. We will also discuss support for college students with ASD on a broad scale to provide a basic understanding of the programming that exists.

Learning Objectives

  • Audience will be able to discuss current supports of college students with ASD and how to find/access those supports.
  • Audience will be able to identify specific behavior-change procedures to increase interview skills of college students with ASD.
