Bio

Gabriela Munoz De Zubiria (she/her/ella) holds a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Fordham University and completed her clinical internship at Mount Sinai Services/Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens, NY. Born in Chile to Colombian and Peruvian parents and raised in Venezuela before moving to the United States, her identity as a Latina immigrant has shaped her clinical, research, and educational journeys. Gabriela has experience providing mental health care across the lifespan to ethnically diverse and historically marginalized populations in various settings, including hospitals, college counseling centers, outpatient clinics, private practice, and community organizations. As a bilingual psychologist, she provides psychotherapy and assessment services in Spanish and English. Her research focuses on supporting undocumented immigrants, including DACA recipients, and members of mixed-status families. She is interested in help-seeking attitudes among undocumented immigrants, disclosure decision-making and identity negotiation, the dynamics of mixed-status families, and the development of counseling resources to support the well-being of the undocumented. Gabriela is passionate about advancing mental health equity through her clinical work, research, and advocacy. In her down time she enjoys cooking and baking, going on walks to look at buildings and architecture, and watching all sorts of movies and TV shows.
