General Assessment Clinic

CPS is located at 152 Frelinghuysen Rd, Piscataway, NJ 08854 and has free parking for clients. Whether the evaluation is in-person or virtual will depend on the type of evaluation you are pursuing.

Once you fill out the surveys you will be contacted by an assessment coordinator. They will either schedule your appointment or request additional information.

Next, you can expect an email from a clinician to schedule the date, time, and location for the first appointment.

After the assessment, there will be a waiting period where the clinician writes up the evaluation report which includes all the testing data, any diagnoses that are relevant, and recommendations for support services and treatment.

You will then be scheduled for an appointment with the clinician to go over the evaluation findings.

RU students can use both types of evaluations for accommodations at Rutgers. Simply take the completed report to the Office of Disability Services (ODS) and they will determine whether accommodations are appropriate.

Only the Comprehensive Mental Health and Academic Functioning evaluations can be used for professional and state exams (e.g., MCAT, bar, SAT).

• Due to our waitlist, we recommend that clients seeking accommodation for licensure and state exams reach out at least six months before the accommodation request deadline. We do not guarantee any acceleration on the waitlist or a finalized report by any deadline sooner than six months.
