Use of AI in clinical work Policy for Clinical and School PsyD Students
Students are required to create their own documentation related to client care, such as (but not limited to) notes, reports, and assessments. While there are HIPAA-compliant AI tools available, GSAPP is in the process of collaborating with the university to explore potential access to these tools. As it stands, the use of AI for all clinical documentation is not permitted. It is crucial for students to understand that using AI for clinically related materials could not only breach HIPAA and state confidentiality regulations, but it may also result in removal from your program.
If you have questions about AI usage for non-clinical coursework, please refer to the course syllabus or reach out to your course instructor directly. Rutgers also has guidance which can be found here: Guidance on the use of AI at Rutgers - Information Technology.
