Description

Despite the high rates of mental health issues among today’s youth, many do not receive treatment due to obstacles including cost, transportation, the time commitment, and childcare issues. This webinar will describe Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), an evidence-based has been shown to be effective for individuals with chronic emotion dysregulation difficulties, including suicidality, non-suicidal self-injury, interpersonal conflict, eating disordered behavior, substance use, depression, and anxiety. Participants will learn how DBT can be implemented in schools, as well as learn some DBT skills that they can start using with their students to help address emotion regulation difficulties.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will identify overarching goal of DBT, as well as the different components of the treatment.
  • Participants will identify at least three ways to incorporate DBT in schools.
  • Participants will describe at least three skills that they can use with emotionally dysregulated students.
