Description

This one-hour CE presentation is designed for mental health professionals (intermediate level) seeking evidence-based approaches to identifying narcissistic abuse, understanding its psychological impact, and applying CBT interventions. Participants will gain practical assessment strategies, intervention methods, and resource knowledge to support both survivors and clinicians.

Learning Objectives

Attendees will be able to:

  1. Identify at least 2 behaviors and patterns indicative of narcissistic abuse. 
  2. Explain the interpersonal impact of pathological narcissism/narcissistic abuse.
  3. Identify at least 2 behavioral or cognitive patterns in survivors of narcissistic abuse. 
  4. Apply CBT-based assessment and intervention strategies tailored to survivors of narcissistic abuse.

Instructor Bio

Megan DeRiso, Psy.D., is a Licensed Clinical Health Psychologist specializing in evidence-based treatments for anxiety, OCD, depression, and stress-related conditions, with a focus on recovery from narcissistic abuse. She earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Health Psychology from Nova Southeastern University with specialized training in supporting clients managing physical health concerns, chronic illness, and medical trauma.

Dr. DeRiso has extensive clinical experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and mindfulness-based interventions. She works with individuals navigating the long-term effects of narcissistic abuse, helping them regain emotional safety, self-trust, and practical coping strategies.

She has presented workshops at local and national meetings, served as a guest speaker for grand rounds at the University of Texas at San Antonio, and published research in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. DeRiso is licensed in New Jersey (#35SI00756400) and practices telepsychology through PSYPACT (#20371).
