Bio

Dr. Julia Brillante (she/her) is an Assistant Teaching Professor and the Practicum Coordinator for the Department of Clinical Psychology in the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) at Rutgers University. She earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from GSAPP and completed her pre-doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Brillante specializes in providing evidence-based treatments for depression, anxiety, emotion dysregulation, non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) and suicidality, particularly for children and adolescents. She has expertise in cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy, extensive training in interpersonal psychotherapy, and a growing interest in acceptance and commitment therapy. Dr. Brillante’s interests include understanding and treating NSSI in youth and young adults, and working with bicultural and multiracial/ethnic families in exploring individual values while navigating cultural context and identities. Dr. Brillante is committed to bringing compassion, curiosity and radical genuineness into her work mentoring doctoral students throughout their clinical training.
