Dr. Kamilah Legette

Bio
Dr. Legette earned her PhD in Human Development and Family Studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and completed a T-32 postdoctoral fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to joining Rutgers, she was an assistant professor at the University of Denver for four years.
Her research examines ways institutional (policies) and individual racial biases (e.g., emotion, beliefs) impacts children’s experiences with school discipline, as well as their social and emotional well-being. The goal of this work is to uncover processes contributing to racial disparities in school that will inform effective interventions, school policy changes, and teacher preparation programs that will optimize healthy development and achievement in youth.
