Dr. Erum Nadeem

Dr. Nadeem earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles, and completed her postdoctoral research in the UCLA/RAND Health Services Research Training Program at the UCLA Center for Health Services Research. Her work focuses on community-partnered research methods, implementation science to support the uptake of evidence-based practices in schools and community settings, and racial/ethnic disparities in children’s educational and mental health outcomes. She has particular expertise in supporting schools to respond to the needs of children and adolescents exposed to trauma, and in the study of implementation strategies (e.g., coaching, consultation, learning collaboratives, continuous quality improvement). Dr. Nadeem is a national expert in school-based interventions for trauma, including the Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS) and Bounce Back. She has published in peer-reviewed journals in psychiatry, psychology, and education, and has a history of federal and foundation funding for her research. 

Prior to coming to GSAPP, Dr. Nadeem held faculty positions in psychiatry at Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute, and in child psychiatry at New York University School of Medicine. Most recently, she was on the faculty at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University. She currently holds an appointment as Adjunct Associate Professor Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at New York University and is affiliated with the IDEAS Center for improving the quality of state-delivered mental health care services for children and families.
