Dr. Adam Lekwa is an Assistant Professor in the School Psychology and MTSS programs in the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) at Rutgers University. Formerly a practicing school psychologist and instructional services coordinator in Minnesota, Dr. Lekwa’s research interests were shaped by challenges and lessons learned in schools, and involve three related areas of study: (1) formative assessment of student academic skills, (2) formative assessment of teacher practices, and (3) data-based teacher coaching and consultation to enhance students’ behavioral and academic growth. Dr. Lekwa’s prior roles at Rutgers have spanned non-tenure-track appointments focused on grant-funded research activities in NJ schools as well as instruction and academic program development. Dr. Lekwa led the design and launch of the Graduate Certificate and Master of Applied Psychology (MAP) in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support in K-12 educational settings. His courses in the School Psychology and MTSS programs focus on quantitative methods, assessment and evaluation of student academic skill development, and history and systems in psychology.
