BRIEF DESCRIPTION: 

This year's recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Award is Jane Hochberg, Psy.D. (Clinical, 1976). Since graduating from GSAPP, Dr. Hochberg served as the Director of Clinical Services at the Family and Child Guidance Center in Orange, which was devoted to community mental health on a low or no cost basis. She spent 20 years as a consultant to the Pingry School in Martinsville. In addition to her clinical experiences, Dr. Hochberg has served extensively in numerous professional organizations. In 1985, she was the Chairperson for the NJ Association for the Advancement of Psychology. In 1987, she was elected as President of the New Jersey Psychological Association (NJPA). She chaired the Ethics Committee of NJPA from 1993 until 1997. In 1996, she was given the prestigious award of Psychologist of the Year by NJPA.

Since graduating from GSAPP, Jane Hochberg, Psy.D. (Clinical, 1976) served as the Director of Clinical Services at the Family and Child Guidance Center in Orange, which was devoted to community mental health on a low or no cost basis. She spent 20 years as a consultant to the Pingry School in Martinsville. In addition to her clinical experiences, Dr. Hochberg has served extensively in numerous professional organizations. In 1985, she was the Chairperson for the NJ Association for the Advancement of Psychology. In 1987, she was elected as President of the New Jersey Psychological Association (NJPA). She chaired the Ethics Committee of NJPA from 1993 until 1997. In 1996, she was given the prestigious award of Psychologist of the Year by NJPA. She has made numerous presentations at NJPA's annual conventions. Dr. Hochberg's professional affiliations also include service to the Independent Adjudication Panel for the American Psychological Association (APA) from 1998 until 2004. From 2003 until 2006, she served on the Ethics Committee for APA. She participated in several panels for the APA Ethics Committee at the APA Conventions in 2005 and 2006. Furthermore, Dr. Hochberg has a history of service to the Essex County Mental Health Association (MHA) where she served as Board Member, President, and Past President. Her work at the Essex County MHA has focused on raising money to treat those with mental illness and working in the community to erase the stigma of mental illness. Lastly, Dr. Hochberg continues to maintain a private practice in Florham Park and has received certification as a parenting coordinator. Her practice focuses on older adolescents, couples, and adults of all ages. As a practitioner, Dr. Hochberg has addressed countless professional and lay groups on issues including child and adult development, adolescence, family dynamics, women intransition, and ethics. She continues to supervise mental health professions, who are either working toward licensure or who wish to increase their clinical skills.
