Bio

Kim Spinelli is GSAPP’s Director of Communications and a veteran in the Marketing Communications space.  In this position, Kim reports directly to the dean and is responsible for communications planning and strategy, content creation and review, media relations, social media, brand management, and community engagement. She plays a key role in event planning and serves as a primary liaison to Rutgers central communications unit.

In addition to the instrumental partnerships she has established university-wide, Kim collaborates with GSAPP faculty, staff, students, and alumni across all academic programs, departments, and centers to produce engaging messaging and promotions within a broad array of marketing collateral. She is Editor-in-Chief of GSAPP’s acclaimed e-newsletter, the Gazette.

A graduate of Rutgers University’s School of Communication and Information (SC&I), Kim often employs and mentors interns from her beloved alma mater. Kim began her professional career in banking, in a competitive corporate management-training program. She worked for over a decade in the financial services industry, rising up the ranks quickly to become Vice President of High-Net-Worth Communications for a large investment firm.

While taking a brief sabbatical to raise her twins, she performed record-breaking publicity work for several volunteer organizations and worked as a freelance reporter. Kim returned to Rutgers in 2016, working with the College Support Program for Students on the Autism Spectrum, now a unit within the Rutgers Center for Adult Autism Services (RCAAS), previously a division under Student Affairs. After the transition, Kim split her time between the RCAAS and due to her desired skill set, as a Staff Writer/Editorial Specialist with GSAPP’s Innovation Team. She assumed her current role in April 2022.

Kim is meticulously attentive to detail and takes great pride in spreading the GSAPP mission and vision, its dedication to improving and expanding vital mental health care services and wellness initiatives to individuals, families, organizations, and communities. She is proficient in Spanish and has written for local, statewide, and national publications.

She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, Rutgers Communicators Network, the SC&I and Rutgers University Alumni Associations.
