Raquel Sosa
Raquel Sosa is a doctoral candidate in the Counseling Psychology program at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania and is currently in her last year on internship at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center for the 2024-2025 school year. She is a daughter of Mexican immigrants and identifies as Chicana. Raquel's career interests are heavily tied to her personal values and life experiences. Her dissertation focuses on piloting and evaluating a mental health preventative intervention based on liberation psychology principles called FUERZA with Latinx immigrant youth by facilitating critical consciousness. Raquel’s other research interests include Latinx acculturation and academic and mental wellness outcomes, culturally responsive programs to assist in the academic, career, and emotional development of underrepresented youth, and Latinx mental health treatment inequities. As a bilingual psychologist in training, she is passionate about providing services in Spanish and English to the Latinx community. Clinically, she has experience providing therapy in a variety of settings including college counseling, academic medical centers, and K-8 schools with children and adults. Outside of being a psychologist in training, Raquel enjoys spending time with her family and partner, watching reality TV shows, traveling, playing pickleball, and going on hikes.
