Description:

This 90-minute learning opportunity will cover topics related to ethical guidelines and best practices related to record-keeping, use of telehealth, and confidentiality. The discussion topics will include the nuances of adult vs minor records, important considerations for use of telehealth, mandatory reporting guideline, and what should and should not be included in progress notes.

Learning objectives:

By the end of the workshop, attendees will be able to:

  • List ethical guidelines related to record-keeping and telehealth,
  • Describe enhanced strategies for decision-making related to note content, and
  • Describe the impact of information contained in client records.

Instructor

Kelly Moore, Psy.D., is the Director of the Center for Psychological Services at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) at Rutgers University. She oversees all clinical and financial operations of CPS- a state-of-the-art mental health training clinic for the doctoral psychology students in the school and clinical psychology programs at GSAPP, as well as the clinical psychology PhD students Rutgers. Prior to her tenure at GSAPP, Dr. Moore served as the Program Manager Principal Investigator/Project Director of the Children’s Center for Resilience and Trauma Recovery (CCRTR) at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care under the Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences Department. The CCRTR is a SAMHSA funded Category III Center under the National Child Traumatic Stress Center. The CCRTR was also awarded a three-year SAMHSA Mental Health Awareness Training Grant. Dr. Moore is a licensed clinical psychologist in New Jersey & Pennsylvania and has extensive clinical training working  with  adults,  children,  and families  impacted  by  trauma, and developing interdisciplinary  teams of professionals  in  meeting  the needs of children  and families. Dr. Moore is a member of the Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care Psychology Doctoral Internship Training Committee and is the primary supervisor of the doctoral intern each year rotating in the Rutgers Child Day School. Dr. Moore is a certified trainer in Youth Mental Health First Aid and Question, Persuade, & Refer Suicide Prevention  training  and was is the lead Trainer on a UBHC subcontract with the Greater Newark Health Care Coalition’s Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Advancing Trauma-Informed Care National Grant.

Dr. Moore’s expertise is in translating research into practical application for professionals across disciplines. More recently, Dr. Moore was asked again by the Greater Newark Health Care Coalition to provide training on trauma-informed care and the impact of social determinants on mental health to lead administrators for Horizon Blue NJ- one of the state’s largest insurers. As Program Manager for the Children’s Center for Resilience and Trauma Recovery, Dr. Moore leads a $2 million, five-year program aimed to infuse trauma-informed care into clinical practice for New Jersey providers serving families of children ages 0-11 that are impacted by complex trauma. Dr. Moore coordinates the grant goals and objectives of developing the mental health workforce through training of advanced graduate students in Rutgers Schools of Nursing, Social Work, and Psychology.  She also coordinates the provision of training in evidence-based and evidence-informed screening, assessment, and treatment or trauma and related issues to New Jersey providers contracted with the New Jersey Children’s System of Care- the nation’s premier model of a statewide children’s behavioral healthcare system. 

Dr. Moore obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development from Cornell University, located in Ithaca, NY, in 2002 and her Masters of Science of Education degree in Psychological Services from the University of Pennsylvania, located in Philadelphia, Pa, in 2003. In 2011, Dr. Moore obtained her Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from Rutgers University in New Jersey. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship with Dr. Edna Foa at the renowned Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Moore has extensive training in evidence-based assessment and treatment of trauma and anxiety disorders per her practicum, internship, and fellowship training.  As a fellow, Dr. Moore coordinated the dissemination of evidence-based treatment for trauma in community mental health centers throughout Philadelphia and helped establish an Adult Trauma Treatment Program at one of the largest community mental health centers in the city.

In 2007, Dr. Moore was awarded the SAMHSA-funded American Psychological Association’s Minority Fellowship Award for doctoral psychology students for 3 years. In 2011, during her doctoral internship, Dr. Moore was also awarded the UBHC Psychiatry Department’s Early Career Research Award for her dissertation on the impact of cyberbullying on adolescent girls.
