Bio
Sydney Baker, PhD (she/they), is a clinical forensic psychologist specializing in working with youth who are involved in or at risk of becoming involved in the legal system. Dr. Baker completed her PhD in Clinical Forensic Psychology at the CUNY Graduate Center's clinical psychology program at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. They completed their predoctoral internship at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care, where they provided therapy and conducted psychological assessments with incarcerated youth.
Dr. Baker's research is committed to conducting translational research with direct implications for public policy reform within the juvenile legal system, aiming to make procedures like interrogation and plea bargaining more equitable and developmentally appropriate for adolescents. Her clinical expertise focuses on enhancing emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and anger management in youth.
