IICCS history

History

IICCS is unique in bringing together supervision scholars and practioners from across discplines and countries.  Clinical supervision is the “signature pedagogy” of the mental health professions. But most of the conversations about it in the literature and in conferences has been siloed: They have occurred within disciplines, within countries, and within groups who are primarily practitioners or primarily scholars.

Over the past two decades, IICCS has been hosted by several universities:

  • 2004 - 2009:  University at Buffalo
  • 2010 - 2019: Adelphi University
  • 2020 - University of Redlands
  • 2021-2022 - Catholic University of America
  • 2024 - University of Redlands
  • 2025 - Rutgers University

IICCS Leadership

The conference co-chairs are Heidi Hutman (Temple University), Karen Sewell (Carlton University) and Arpana G. Inman (Rutgers University).

They chair a multi-disciplinary, multinational Executive Committee of supervision scholars and practitioners.
