Recently, we had the privilege of gathering to celebrate GSAPP Distinguished Professor Emerita, Dr. Nancy Boyd-Franklin, to mark her milestone birthday and honor a remarkable career that has shaped Family Therapy, Psychology, and generations of students and practitioners.

Dr. Boyd-Franklin’s pioneering work has centered multicultural perspectives and the lived experiences of African American families, advancing more inclusive, community-based, and culturally responsive care approaches. From her influential multisystems framework to her work in home-based therapy and support for families navigating complex challenges, her contributions have transformed how therapy reaches and serves underserved communities.
