"Polysubstance Use: The Fourth Wave of Opioid Epidemic... The Norm, Not the Exception"
Kechna Cadet, PhD
Description
Dr. Kechna Cadet is a trained substance use epidemiologist and NIDA funded T32 Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Epidemiology at Columba University Mailman School of Public Health. Her work focuses on polysubstance use, individual - and structural risk factors for substance use, and associated harms such as HIV, HCV, and non-fatal overdose. Currently, her work spatially examines the macro-level social and structural correlates of overdose- related polysubstance use among a nationwide sample of people who use drugs and uses natural language processing techniques and machine learning methods to understand polysubstance use, route of administration, and HIV risk behaviors qualitatively and quantitatively among people who use drugs and describe their experiences on social media platforms.
