Certificate in Professional Counseling
Post Master's Certificate in Professional Counseling
Six classes are taken in total:
- Four (4) classes in Rutgers' School of Health Professions (SHP) in the Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions' M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling, Clinical Mental Health Counseling Track
- Two (2) classes, an elective course, and a professional practicum course taught by Dr. Deirdre Waters, in Rutgers' Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP)'s Master of Applied Psychology (MAP) Program.
The certificate program is a hybrid model of didactic courses largely offered online. In addition to the coursework offered by certificate, individuals will need supervised clinical hours under a plan approved by the New Jersey Professional Counselor Examiners Committee and a passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE).
